Rapper Drake reportedly lost $1 million in Bitcoin after backing the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LX on 8 February.
The wager was placed at crypto casino Stake, with odds of 2.95 — meaning a potential payout of $2.95 million had the bet landed.
Instead, the Seattle Seahawks secured the championship title for the 2025 NFL season, defeating the Patriots 29–13.
High-stakes crypto betting
Drake is known for placing large public bets in partnership with Stake, often sharing slips and outcomes on social media. While some wagers have paid off handsomely in the past, this latest loss adds to the long-running narrative around the so-called “Drake betting curse.”
With Bitcoin-denominated wagers, volatility adds another layer of exposure — meaning the real financial impact can fluctuate depending on BTC’s market price.
