Authorities in Indonesia have arrested 39 Indian nationals in connection with the operation of an illegal online gambling platform known as Ram Betting Exchange.
On 3 February, Bali Police conducted coordinated raids on two villas located in Badung and Tabanan. Of those detained, 35 individuals have been formally charged, while four are currently being treated as witnesses in the case.
Operation details
According to investigators, the website had been operating since late 2025 and was generating up to $475,000 per month.
Police allege that the suspects entered Indonesia on tourist visas and settled in Bali, blending into the large flow of Indian visitors to avoid detection. The gambling platform reportedly targeted Indian players, and authorities discovered the operation through advertisements placed on Instagram.
The detainees were reportedly paid around $296 per month for their work.
If convicted, they face up to nine years in prison under Indonesian law.
Seized equipment
During searches of the villas, police confiscated:
- 42 mobile phones
- 15 laptops
- 3 desktop computers
- 2 routers
Despite the arrests, the Ram Betting Exchange website remains operational, with deposits and withdrawals allegedly handled via WhatsApp at the time of publication.
