German authorities conducted raids in connection with an illegal online gambling network suspected of processing more than €5.8 billion in bets between 2021 and 2023, according to a report by The Gamblest.
Law enforcement carried out operations at 11 locations, involving more than 100 personnel. Officials seized several luxury vehicles, froze bank accounts, and secured assets worth approximately €82 million, while one person was detained during the operation. Investigators allege that five individuals had been illegally offering online gambling services in Germany since July 2021.
Authorities separately suspect the group of large-scale tax evasion, with the estimated unpaid tax liability for 2024 alone reaching approximately €77.7 million. The scale of both the betting turnover and the alleged tax shortfall underscores the significant financial reach illegal gambling networks can achieve before detection, adding to Germany's ongoing enforcement efforts against unlicensed operators serving the country's regulated market.
