Dutch Football Site Voetbalflitsen Promotes Illegal Casinos

Dutch football news portal Voetbalflitsen, recently acquired by an unnamed foreign company, has begun promoting unlicensed iGaming operators through AI-generated content targeting local players.

Dutch football news portal Voetbalflitsen, which draws 1.4 million unique monthly visitors, has started publishing content promoting operators unlicensed in the Netherlands following its acquisition by an unnamed foreign company, according to a report by CasinoNieuws.

The outlet found that the site now features authors with AI-generated profile photos, along with new sections titled "Football Betting" and "Guides" containing articles such as "Casino Without Cruks," referring to the Dutch self-exclusion registry, and "Bypassing Cruks in 2026," both specifically targeting Dutch players. Links on the site originally directed users to licensed operators, but a portion of visitors are now shown collections of unlicensed brands instead. This follows a similar pattern seen previously with other Dutch gaming outlets, including Power Unlimited, PlaySense, and Gamer.nl, which changed ownership under comparable circumstances before shifting toward promoting unlicensed gambling content.

The case highlights a recurring tactic in which established, high-traffic media outlets are acquired and repurposed to funnel organic audiences toward illegal gambling platforms, exploiting existing reader trust and search visibility built up under the site's original ownership and editorial focus.
