Switzerland Blacklists Over 3,500 Illegal Casino Domains

Switzerland's Federal Gaming Commission (ESBK) has expanded its blacklist of illegal online casinos to 3,567 domains, according to a report by iGaming Expert. The regulator added more than 1,000 sites to the list since the beginning of 2026 alone.

The updated blacklist includes domains that offer or advertise online casino services in Switzerland without a license. Local internet service providers block access to these sites using DNS blocking. ESBK oversees illegal online casinos specifically, while a separate regulator, Gespa, monitors sports betting, lotteries, and other regulated gambling forms; each body maintains its own independent blacklist. Switzerland's regulated online casino market currently includes 10 licensed operators, with Casino Locarno's platform CasiNeo being the most recent addition. The country's online casino market opened in 2019, with licenses available exclusively to operators already running land-based casinos in Switzerland.

The steady growth of Switzerland's blacklist, expanding by more than 1,000 domains within a single year, reflects the scale of ongoing enforcement required to maintain channelization toward the country's small pool of licensed operators. The restriction limiting licenses to existing land-based casino operators continues to shape a comparatively narrow regulated market relative to the volume of illegal domains regulators are working to block.
