Canada's licensed iGaming market is valued at approximately $3.96 billion annually, with Ontario accounting for $2.88 billion, or 72.7% of the total national market, according to a report by Iredell Free News.
Ontario's market generated roughly $70.8 billion in total annual wagers and nearly $2.88 billion in revenue, supported by more than 1.27 million active accounts and an average revenue of approximately $240 per account. The province collected around $581 million in tax revenue over the period, bringing cumulative market revenue since its launch in 2022 to more than $7.2 billion. Provincial market revenue grew by more than 30% over the past year, with over 83% of players now using licensed operators. Online casino remains the dominant segment, accounting for more than 85% of total wagering volume and approximately 75% of revenue, or roughly $2.16 billion, while sports betting generated approximately $587 million in revenue.
The figures underscore Ontario's position as the primary driver of Canada's regulated online gambling growth since the province opened its competitive market in 2022, with rising channelization toward licensed operators suggesting continued success in shifting player activity away from unregulated platforms as the market matures.
