Brazil Blocks Pixbet Nationwide, Fines Operator $914K

A Brazilian court ordered internet service providers nationwide to block access to iGaming operator Pixbet's brands, Pixbet, GanheiBet, and Bet da Sorte, and fined the company approximately $914,000 for failing to comply with requirements aimed at restricting minors' access to gambling, according to a report by Jornal da Paraíba.

The ruling follows a July decision by the same court requiring Pixbet to either suspend operations of its brands or confirm implementation of biometric and facial verification systems capable of automatically blocking accounts belonging to minors. Pixbet failed to meet these requirements, triggering a daily fine of approximately $19,400 starting July 18. The action adds to previous regulatory pressure on the operator, as regulator SPA had already suspended betting acceptance on the same brands, citing among other reasons a lack of tools to identify players at risk of gambling addiction.

The nationwide blocking order and accumulated fines mark an escalation in Brazilian authorities' enforcement against Pixbet, following a pattern of repeated compliance failures across multiple regulatory and judicial actions this year. The case underscores the growing legal and financial consequences facing operators that fail to implement required player protection measures within Brazil's regulated betting framework.
