Brazil Suspends Betting on 14 Sites Over Compliance Failures

Brazilian regulator SPA has suspended betting operations on 14 iGaming sites belonging to six operator groups this week, covering brands including Pixbet, Ganhei, and Betdasorte (Pixbet); Zeroum, Sportvip, and Energia (Zeroumbet); KBet (Enseada); MMA, Betvip, and Papigames (Select); Megaposta (Nexus); and Multibet, Ricobet, and BRX Bet (RR Participações). As of publication, players can only withdraw existing funds from the affected platforms.

SPA cited several reasons for the suspensions, including the operators' failure to comply with reporting requirements. Pixbet was specifically flagged for lacking tools to identify players at risk of gambling addiction, while RR Participações failed to provide documentation on its actual ownership structure. The regulator stated that the measures will remain in effect until sanctions proceedings conclude and the operators confirm they have resolved the identified violations.

The suspension adds to mounting regulatory pressure on Pixbet, which was previously targeted by Operation Arena over suspected involvement in money laundering, tax evasion, and illegal currency transfers abroad. The action against six separate operator groups in a single measure signals that Brazilian authorities are broadening enforcement beyond isolated cases, applying consistent reporting and ownership-transparency standards across the licensed betting market as the sector's regulatory framework continues to mature.
