Fake "Netflix Casino" Scam Targets Italian Gamblers

Michael Ashworth

Industry outlet SiGMA News published an investigation into an advertising campaign for a nonexistent brand called Netflix Casino, which presents itself as a project from the real streaming platform and targets Italian users. According to the outlet, links within the ads lead to domains hosting online casinos operating illegally in Italy. This marks the second publicly documented case of scammers exploiting a major global brand name, following a similar Amazon Slots campaign the outlet investigated previously.

The paid advertisements ran on Meta's social platforms through accounts named N-flix It, Top App It, Netflix Casino, N-APP, and ITNet. The ad creatives displayed an Italian regulator ADM license marked "100% legal in Italy," despite the brand not appearing in the regulator's official registry. The ads also compared Netflix Casino favorably against licensed operators SNAI and Eurobet, falsely claiming those operators lacked licenses and offered less attractive terms. Some creatives replicated fake pages from Italian outlets La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, and La Gazzetta dello Sport, featuring fabricated news stories, including claims that licensed operators Lottomatica and Sisal demanded an investigation into Netflix Casino over unusually large player payouts. The campaign's landing page mimicked a Netflix Casino App Store listing showing Netflix as the developer, while other creatives included a fake WhatsApp chat with a fabricated €15,000 withdrawal screenshot and a document titled "List of Winners" dated August 23, 2026, bearing a Netflix Casino Italia stamp with fictional winner names and payout amounts.

Gambling advertising is banned in Italy, and since August 10, 2026, communications regulator AGCOM has additionally prohibited including bonus or terms information even within responsible gambling messaging, making this campaign's scale of fabricated legitimacy particularly notable against the country's strict advertising restrictions.
