Spribe Wins EU Injunction Against Aviator Studio Brand

James Whitfield

Provider Spribe has secured a preliminary injunction in Malta barring three companies linked to provider Aviator Studio from using the Aviator brand name and the website aviator.studio, according to a report by NEXT.io. The ruling, issued by the First Hall of the Civil Court, extends the ban to any marks identical or similar to two of Spribe's registered EU trademarks.

The injunction applies to Aviator Studio Limited, Aviator Studio Holding Limited, and Aviator Studio USA Limited. According to the court's preliminary assessment, Aviator Studio's branding creates a likelihood of confusion with Spribe's trademarks due to the identical naming, similarities between the airplane imagery and audiovisual presentation used in the game, and overlap in the products' target audience.

The ruling adds to Spribe's broader legal campaign to protect the Aviator brand across multiple jurisdictions, following recent trademark registrations in Kenya and a separate Curaçao court decision annulling conflicting Aviator trademark filings by a different company. The EU-wide scope of this latest injunction significantly expands Spribe's ability to enforce its trademark rights against similarly branded competitors operating across the European market.
