Slots & Daggers Blends Slot Machine With Fantasy RPG

A new single-player roguelike on Steam combines slot machine spins with fantasy RPG combat, developed solo by Friedemann.

A single-player roguelike called Slots & Daggers, developed by Friedemann and published by Future Friends Games, is now available on Steam. The game combines slot machine mechanics with a fantasy RPG structure, with players fighting enemies by spinning a reel.

The game launched on October 24, 2025, priced at $7.99. According to the developer, the entire game was built by a single person, with a full playthrough taking between four and eight hours. Beyond the main campaign, the game includes a mode called "Egg Arena" focused on accumulating points. The title does not include any real-money betting functionality.

The release adds to a growing category of indie titles that borrow slot machine mechanics as a core gameplay system within traditional genre frameworks like RPGs, using the format for entertainment value rather than actual gambling. The solo-developed nature of the project highlights how accessible game development tools have made it possible for individual creators to build genre-blending titles combining gambling-inspired mechanics with established gameplay structures.
