These indicators led authorities to conclude the platforms were actively marketing to the Danish audience despite lacking the required licensing. With this latest ruling, the total number of websites blocked in Denmark since 2012 has reached 870, with DNS blocking remaining one of the regulator's primary enforcement tools against unlicensed gambling activity.
The inclusion of Polymarket in the blocking order signals that Danish authorities are extending their enforcement approach to prediction markets alongside traditional gambling sites, treating platforms with similar betting mechanics under comparable regulatory scrutiny. As prediction markets continue expanding globally and drawing user bases in regulated gambling jurisdictions, this action may serve as an early indicator of how European regulators intend to classify and respond to such platforms operating without local licenses.
