Police in Dhaka, Bangladesh, detained a 43-year-old suspect accused of operating unnamed illegal iGaming platforms, according to a report by Jago News 24. Special police unit RAB-3 identified the detainee as the leader of an agent network within an organized group believed to include 10 to 12 additional unidentified members.
According to investigators, the suspect recruited players through fake Facebook and WhatsApp accounts and personally handled deposits into their gambling accounts. At the time of his arrest, authorities seized two smartphones, SIM cards, a Yamaha FZ motorcycle, and approximately $1,500, including funds held in mobile wallet services bKash and Nagad.
The case highlights the continued use of mobile wallet services and social media platforms as key infrastructure for illegal gambling networks operating in Bangladesh, where such payment channels allow operators to process transactions without relying on traditional banking systems that carry closer regulatory oversight. RAB-3's ongoing pursuit of the remaining unidentified members of the group suggests further arrests may follow as the investigation into the network's broader operations continues.
