Licensed iGaming operators in Brazil paid $1.4 billion in taxes during the first half of 2026, marking a 76.86% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to a report by iGaming Express.
Operators paid $790 million in taxes over the first six months of 2025, while total tax revenue from the market reached $1.6 billion for the full previous year. Brazil's regulated betting market launched on January 1, 2025, with 63 licensed operators, and the country now ranks fourth globally by iGaming traffic volume. The tax burden on operators is scheduled to increase further, with the rate rising to 15% in 2027 and to 18% by 2028.
The half-year figure follows an earlier report showing Brazil collected $471.2 million in betting tax revenue over the same six-month period, suggesting continued strong growth momentum across the sector as the market matures. The scheduled tax increases through 2028 indicate Brazilian authorities intend to steadily raise the fiscal contribution expected from licensed operators as the regulated market continues expanding its player base and overall revenue volume.
