Denmark’s licensed online casino and betting sectors generated combined gross gaming revenue of DKK633 million in July 2026, according to calculations using Spillemyndigheden’s monthly data. That represents growth of approximately 21.7% against the regulator’s GDP-adjusted figures for July 2025.
Online casino contributed DKK435.5 million, while betting generated DKK197.5 million. The combined figure covers those two reporting categories and should not be described as online casino revenue alone.
In its September 2 announcement, the Danish Gambling Authority reported annual growth of 22.0% for online casino and 21.3% for betting. Total gambling spending across the categories included in its monthly release increased by 17.2%, reflecting weaker results in land-based segments.
The figures measure gross gaming revenue, or GGR: stakes less winnings paid to players, with relevant commissions included. They represent revenue before gambling duties, operating expenses and other costs, rather than operator profit.
Online casino represented approximately 68.8% of the DKK633 million generated by the two categories, calculated from the regulator’s underlying figures. Betting accounted for the remaining 31.2%.
The split shows the relative size of the two businesses within Denmark’s licensed market. Online casino both generated more revenue and recorded a slightly higher annual growth rate than betting in July.
Across the full set of monthly reporting categories, GGR reached approximately DKK760.1 million. Alongside online casino and betting, that total includes gaming machines, land-based casinos and land-based bingo.
Those physical gambling segments did not follow the same growth pattern. Spillemyndigheden reported that gaming-machine spending declined by 0.1%, land-based casino spending fell by 4.0% and land-based bingo spending decreased by 7.9% against the adjusted comparison period.
The result was a market expansion concentrated in online casino and betting, rather than growth across every product category.
The comparison basis is important when interpreting the 21.7% combined increase. Spillemyndigheden’s downloadable data provides both nominal figures and historical amounts adjusted to 2026 GDP levels.
For July 2025, the adjusted online casino and betting figures together total approximately DKK519.9 million. Comparing that amount with July 2026’s DKK633 million produces the approximately 21.7% increase.
A comparison using unadjusted historical amounts would produce a different growth rate. Reports should therefore identify which series they use, particularly when comparing these results with earlier coverage or statistics from other jurisdictions.
Spillemyndigheden introduced a GDP-adjustment filter alongside the July release. The authority said historical comparisons under that setting use the current year’s level, based on the government’s latest Economic Survey, while nominal figures remain available.
