Mellstroy Says Cyprus Police Contacted Him Over Kazakhstan Case

Streamer Andrey Burim, known online as Mellstroy, has said that police in Cyprus contacted him in connection with a request from Kazakhstan, where he has been placed on an international wanted list.

Burim made the claim in a video circulating on social media. It remains unclear from the recording whether he was detained, arrested or simply contacted by authorities.

Neither Cypriot nor Kazakh law enforcement authorities have publicly confirmed his detention or the start of extradition proceedings.

Kazakhstan Put Mellstroy on International Wanted List

Kazakhstan's Agency for Financial Monitoring previously said Burim had been placed on an international wanted list in November 2025.

The agency is investigating him over the alleged promotion of illegal online gambling through social media.

According to the Kazakh authorities, Mellstroy organised promotional campaigns connected with an online casino, encouraging users to publish videos on platforms including TikTok and YouTube Shorts featuring the brand, casino logos and links to its website.

A Kazakh court also authorised Burim's detention in absentia as part of the investigation.

The international wanted status is officially confirmed by Kazakhstan. However, whether the latest action in Cyprus was carried out specifically through Interpol channels has not been confirmed by the relevant authorities.

Burim himself previously claimed that he was wanted through Interpol and that the situation prevented him from leaving Cyprus.

Mellstroy Previously Said He Moved to Cyprus

The streamer has previously said that he relocated to the Republic of Cyprus.

His current location has not been independently confirmed, although the latest video appears to refer to contact with Cypriot police.

The absence of an official statement makes it impossible to establish whether Burim is currently subject to any restrictions, has been taken into custody or remains free while authorities review Kazakhstan's request.

Reports describing the development as an arrest therefore go beyond what has been officially established at this stage.

Kazakhstan and Cyprus Have Extradition Treaty

Kazakhstan and Cyprus signed an extradition treaty in October 2022.

The agreement entered into force in November 2023 and provides a legal framework allowing the two countries to request the surrender of wanted individuals for criminal prosecution or enforcement of court sentences.

The existence of the treaty does not mean extradition happens automatically.

Any request would still need to go through the procedures required under the agreement and Cypriot law. At the time of publication, there is no official confirmation that Kazakhstan has started a formal extradition process against Burim in Cyprus.

For now, the confirmed elements remain the criminal investigation in Kazakhstan, Burim's international wanted status and the Kazakh court's decision authorising his detention in absentia.

The latest claim about Cypriot police involvement comes from Mellstroy himself and has yet to be confirmed by authorities in either country.
