ICE Barcelona 2027 Launches Indie Game Zone for Emerging Studios

ICE Barcelona will introduce a dedicated area for independent game developers in 2027, offering modular exhibition pods from €12,500 and additional marketing exposure to operators.

ICE Barcelona will introduce an Indie Game Zone for the first time at its 2027 edition, creating a dedicated exhibition area for independent and early-stage casino game studios.

The initiative will be located in Hall 7, ICE's new Technology and Innovation Hall, and is intended to give smaller developers direct access to operators, buyers and other industry decision-makers.

Exhibition pods will start at €12,500, providing a lower-entry format for studios that may not have the resources or scale required for a conventional ICE stand.

ICE Barcelona 2027 will take place at Fira Barcelona Gran Via from January 18 to 20.

Studios Must Have Operated for 10 Years or Less

Participation is subject to several eligibility requirements designed to keep the zone focused on genuinely independent developers.

Applicants must have been operating for no more than 10 years and must have games, prototypes or concepts ready to demonstrate.

Subsidiaries of larger casino game suppliers are excluded.

Studios already exhibiting separately at either ICE or iGB L!VE are also not eligible for the Indie Game Zone.

Organisers are specifically targeting developers that have not yet achieved the scale or market profile of the industry's largest suppliers.

Applications for the 2027 zone are already open.

Pods Start at €12,500

The modular package includes a branded cabinet, television display, logo placement and two stools, alongside an electrical connection.

Participating studios will also receive a company profile and logo on the ICE website.

The package extends beyond the physical exhibition space.

Indie Game Zone exhibitors will be included in guided stand tours designed to bring delegates through the area and will receive exposure through ICE marketing channels.

Three games from each participating studio can be featured during the Indie Games Showcase email campaign.

The package also includes exposure in a Slots News newsletter distributed to approximately 24,000 casino industry contacts, around 70% of whom ICE identifies as operators.

Hall 7 Expands ICE's Technology Focus

The Indie Game Zone will form part of Hall 7, a new ICE area focused on gaming technology and emerging products.

The hall will bring together businesses working across areas including AI, payments, fintech, infrastructure, data and enterprise technology alongside new iGaming products.

For independent game studios, the dedicated zone creates a more structured route into an exhibition traditionally dominated by established suppliers with significantly larger stands and marketing budgets.

Developers will be able to demonstrate live builds and prototypes directly to potential operator customers and commercial partners.

The format also gives ICE a dedicated discovery section for smaller content suppliers as competition for differentiated casino games continues to increase.

Unlike a general startup area, eligibility is specifically focused on independent game developers and excludes companies already benefiting from a conventional presence at ICE or iGB L!VE.

The 2027 launch will show whether the lower-cost modular model can bring a broader group of emerging studios into one of the industry's largest B2B exhibitions.
