Offshore Brands Capture 83.9% of French Gambling Search Demand, Blask Reports

Offshore brands increased their share of French gambling search interest during an early-autumn surge, while licensed operators recorded slower growth, according to Blask.

Brands classified by Blask as offshore accounted for 83.9% of French online gambling search demand between September 29 and October 12, 2026, up from 67.5% during September 7-20.

The comparison covers two 14-day windows, rather than October as a whole. Average daily search demand more than doubled between the periods, with the strongest activity recorded in early October.

Licensed Brands Grow but Lose Share

Search demand for licensed operators increased by approximately 25%, although it remained below August levels.

Because offshore-brand interest grew considerably faster, their share of the index increased by 16.4 percentage points. Licensed operators therefore attracted more search interest in absolute terms while accounting for a smaller proportion of the total.

Blask said offshore brands retained a larger share than before the surge even as overall demand eased later in October.

Leon and gtBet Drive Half the Increase

Two brands accounted for approximately half of the increase. Leon’s daily Blask Index rose more than tenfold, while gtBet first appeared in the company’s French dataset on September 29.

The expansion extended beyond those brands: excluding gtBet, total search demand still nearly doubled. Its first appearance in the dataset should not, however, be treated as confirmation of its launch date.

Search Interest Is Separate From Gambling Spending

France permits licensed online sports betting, horse-race betting and poker, while online casino games remain prohibited. Blask identifies that product restriction as context for the demand attracted by offshore casino brands.

The figures measure relative search interest, rather than deposits, revenue or player numbers. An 83.9% share of the index consequently does not establish that offshore operators receive the same proportion of French gambling expenditure.
