Poland iGaming Demand Rebounds 20.6% After Payment Blocks
Polish iGaming search demand rose 20.6% in the week of September 14-20, recovering from a three-week dip caused by new payment blocking rules targeting illegal gambling sites.
Search demand for iGaming in Poland rose 20.6% between September 14 and 20 compared to the previous week, according to Blask Index data cited by AG Brief. Between September 1 and 18, demand had remained 40-50% below typical levels.
The initial decline followed new payment blocking measures targeting illegal gambling sites: on September 1, payment system BLIK began rejecting transactions to domains listed in the Finance Ministry's registry, which now includes more than 55,000 addresses. Demand then sharply recovered alongside the 9th round of the Polish football championship, held September 18-20. Blask's search demand index rose to 338,700 on September 19 and to 364,600 on September 20, surpassing late-August levels. Blask noted that the index reflects search interest in iGaming brands and does not directly measure changes in money flow to blocked sites.
