UK Gambling Market Hits Record $23.4B, Led by Online Casino

The UK gambling market's gross gaming yield (GGY) rose 4.4% to $23.4 billion in the 2025/26 financial year, according to UKGC data. All net growth in the market came from online casino.

Online casino GGY grew 14.8% to $7.62 billion, with slots accounting for $6.4 billion, up 15.5% year-on-year and representing approximately 84% of online casino revenue. Online casino's growth of $983.6 million exceeded the market's total growth of $973.3 million. Online betting declined 6.6% to $3.28 billion, and bingo fell 13.8% to $197.85 million. The number of betting shops dropped 3.6%, with 208 locations closing over the year.

Combined, online casino, betting, and bingo generated $11.1 billion, up 6.9% from the previous year, accounting for approximately 63% of GGY excluding lotteries. The online segment's growth occurred alongside a declining customer base: registered accounts fell 3% to 32.4 million, with 25.7 million accounts remaining active by the end of the final quarter, while total funds held in player accounts dropped 13.9%.
